B.C. Day is almost here, and we're all a little thankful for a three-day weekend stretch as we head in to beat some heat and sunny day records. We're continuing with our popular feature - our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend, for Aug. 3 to 5.

1 Get dancing at the Salvadorean Festival 2013, put on by the Salvadorean Cultural Society on Sunday, Aug. 5. The event is at the Scandinavian Centre, 6540 Thomas St., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Get to know El Salvador and celebrate with its music, dance, art and food - plus a classic car show and soccer tournament. For more information, visit the Salvadorean Culture page on Facebook.

2 Get celebrating B.C. Day (Aug. 5) at an all-day event put on at the Burnaby Village Museum. The museum is offering a special

B.C. Day Market Monday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors can enjoy the usual fun of strolling through the 1920s heritage village, but there will also be a special market with vendors including Barefoot Books, Creative Leather Crafts, Nasty Free Naturals and Sweet Thea Cakes, among others. There will also be live music throughout the day. For more information, visit www.burnabyvillage museum.ca or call 604-297-4565.

With the sunny weather in tow, the train ride would be a bright addition for anyone picnicking at the park. For more information, visit www.burnabyrailway.org, or call 604-291-0922.

4 Get artsy at the Burnaby Art Gallery as its New Acquisitions exhibition continues this weekend, featuring new works acquired by the gallery between 2010 and 2013. The gallery is open Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., but is closed on Monday. It's located at 6344 Deer Lake Ave. For more information, call 604-297-4422.

5 Get shopping at the Burnaby Farmers' Market on Saturday, Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the city hall parking lot at 4949 Canada Way.
