Letters: Don’t insult history

Dear Editor, Re: " Richmondite rails on Scots ‘clan’ clearance ," News , June 18. I have read with great trepidation the article about the removal of the word clan from the SFU sports team.
Clan
SFU sports teams are known as The Clan, which causes issues when they travel to the U.S. to compete, given that it sounds like "Klan," as in white supremacist group The Ku Klux Klan. File photo

Dear Editor,

Re: "Richmondite rails on Scots ‘clan’ clearance," News, June 18.

I have read with great trepidation the article about the removal of the word clan from the SFU sports team.

Frankly, this is another historical insult to Simon Fraser in honour and to the thousands of Scots who helped build this beautiful land.

Holly Andersen maybe has too much time on her hands. However, she has insulted a proud people with a longer history by far than the Klan in the U.S.

Most people know the difference between the two. Madam,  leave  history alone. Compliments to Ian MacLeod for speaking out.
