The little red wagon hovering over the doorway of a beloved East Vancouver French-style bistro will roll out for good this weekend, as Bistro Wagon Rouge revealed Wednesday night that they are closing for good.

The Powell Street “blue collar bistro” says Saturday, November 23 will be their final day of service.

Opened in October 2013, the cozy bistro is a sibling to the crowd-pleasing Red Wagon diner-style restaurant on East Hastings, which is also owned by Wagon Rouge’s Brad Miller.

Know for its ever-changing menu of French bistro dishes – think things like hearty cassoulet, steak frites, omelettes, French Onion Soup – Bistro Wagon Rouge was a welcome spot in the “Port District,” with many a diner treading its black-and-white checkered floors and cozying up to the bar or in a banquette.

Miller listed the restaurant for sale earlier this fall. No word at the moment on who will occupy the space at 1869 Powell Street once Bistro Wagon Rouge closes its doors for good this weekend.

“Thank you for alllll the good times Vancouver, it’s been a dream,” says Bistro Wagon Rouge.
