Participating Dairy Queen stores across the province are celebrating Miracle Treat Day Aug. 8, during which all net proceeds from every Blizzard sold will be directed to the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“Over 93,000 kids in B.C. receive care from B.C. Children’s Hospital each year and the community donations we receive are critical to helping provide the best health care imaginable for these children,” Maria Faccio, vice president of philanthropy at B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation said in a news release. “We are immensely grateful for the generous support we receive from Dairy Queen and the British Columbians who make Miracle Treat Day possible.”

Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day is a national initiative between DQ and Children’s Miracle Network to raise important funds for sick and injured kids all across Canada, with proceeds going towards their local children’s hospital. In 2018, Dairy Queen stores across B.C. raised more than $460,000 for the foundation. In total, Dairy Queen has donated more than $7.1 million to the hospital.

B.C. Children’s Hospital is the only hospital in the province dedicated exclusively to the care of children. As a world-class medical centre, B.C. Children’s conducts ground-breaking research and provides specialized care and innovative therapies for the sickest and most seriously injured kids in the province. Donor funds are vital in helping to take this expert care to the next level.

“At Dairy Queen Canada we see our role as serving communities, whether that’s providing families a place to make memories and enjoy a treat in the summer, or through our partnership with Children’s Miracle Network,” said Candida Ness, senior director of marketing with Dairy Queen Canada. “We are so proud of our ability to support Miracle Treat Day and we’re grateful for the tireless work that our franchisees do year-round to make this happen.”

Year after year, hundreds of Dairy Queen employees, franchisees, executives and celebrities unite on Miracle Treat Day to raise funds benefiting children being treated in their own backyard. Since 1984, Dairy Queen has become a top contributor to Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, with $135 million raised to date in support of sick and injured children across North America.
