Sushi tacos, here I come!
That was my first thought when I found out that one of Burnaby’s best restaurants was reopening after a long layoff due to COVID-19 impacts. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment announced recently that Personas Patio + Restaurant + Lounge located at Grand Villa Casino was re-opening for dine-in service on June 17.
Restaurants in Burnaby have struggled as restrictions on in-person dining came and went, but Personas was in a uniquely bad situation because it is located in a casino and therefore had to stay closed due to provincial rules.
Atlas Steakhouse, which is located in the same building, but not in the actual casino, was able to reopen last year.
“We are very excited to finally be re-opening this restaurant and welcome back some of our team,” says Todd Pollock, VP, Food & Beverage at Gateway Casinos. “It’s been a long closure and we want to thank everyone for their support and patience during these challenging times as we work diligently to safely return to operations.”
Personas has a pretty kick-ass menu, with their sushi tacos being one of my favourite dishes. I love fusion cuisine and this is a prime example of doing it right.
Personas also has a fine patio, which will get lots of use with the good weather.
The Personas menu features steak, seafood, flatbreads, chicken and waffles, plus some bowls that are packed with flavour and ingredients.
Personas says it will blow people away with its commitment to following all pandemic protocols.
Maintaining a clean environment is a daily priority and it is regular practice to clean all hard surfaces, such as door handles and tables. Under the current environment, Personas is being hyper-vigilant in its cleaning protocols throughout our property to prevent the spread of transmittable illnesses, including COVID-19.
While things may look a bit different, your Personas experience will be everything you remember. Guests will be able to enjoy the spectacular signature patio, featuring its own bar area, social and table seating, and outdoor fire tables. Daily Happy Hour specials (starting at 4pm) and fan favourites like half-price Wine Wednesday and daily features are also back.
