Two local artists are once again joining forces for an art show and sale to support the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
Audrey Bakewell and Wendy Mould are hosting their Paints ’n’ Bloom exhibition and sale from Friday to Sunday, April 28 to 30, at GardenWorks at Mandeville in South Burnaby.
This is the seventh year and 13th art show the two have had to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer Society of B.C. The cause has personal connections for both of them: Mould’s brother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at age 52, and Bakewell was a caregiver for her own mother after her mother developed the disease at a young age.
“They have experienced first-hand how hard it is on the person and their family and understand how hard it is to find help in the community,” a press release notes. “At their shows, they provide information on support available within the community.”
Along with the show and sale, the two artists are hosting some workshops in the lead-up to the event.
On Wednesday, April 26, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., they’re leading a beginner watercolour class. On Thursday, April 27 from 1 to 3 p.m., they’re offering a creative card class. Each class costs $35, with supplies included. Pre-register by calling Wendy at 604-314-2232.
GardenWorks at Mandeville is at 4746 Marine Dr.
