The Elemental Show, hosted by New West Artists, features an exhibition at two venues; the Arts Council Gallery at Queens Park, until Sept. 29 and at the Network Hub at the Rivermarket, to Sept. 27. These exhibits focus on what the artists consider "elemental," and range from the periodic table to Sherlock Holmes.

Burnaby Art Gallery Outreach Exhibition,

Familiar Strangers/Les Etrangers Familiers, Agnes Ananichuk and Sylvain Tanguay, features works by two artists who have engaged in a process of long-distance collaboration between Victoria, B.C. and Amos, Que. using content from their respective families' collections of old photographs to develop print works using a variety of techniques. Java Jazz with Kate Hammett-Vaughn, at the Java Jazz Café and Bistro, 412 6th Street, New Westminster, from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. Enjoy a buffet dinner with live jazz music by Canadian jazz vocalist Kate Hammett-Vaughn. Tickets are $25. To RSVP, call 604521-2929.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 22

Your best audition yet, Music Box Music and Theatre Academy is holding a workshop for adults age 18 and up on how to prepare for musical theatre auditions. The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the academy, 209-615 Eighth Street, New Westminster.

The ROAR Team presents Burnaby's talent show winners, performing at South Burnaby's Rumble Park from 11: 30 a.m. to 2: 30 p.m.; picnic rain or shine. Enjoy Stephen Scaccia, winner of Burnaby's Got Talent Show, Megan Twist, who won this year's Edmond's City Fair Talent Show, singer-songwriter, Tonia Jurbin, Country Western singer, Nadra Burns, and South Burnaby's RainShadow Band, providing entertainment for all ages.
