So you want to go to the Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival but you’re not sure whether you should bring the kids along?
The answer is: Of course.
The festival works hard to make sure it’s open to the next generation of blues fans – and to make it as easy as possible for parents and caregivers to expose kids to great music. Children aged 12 and under are always free with an accompanying adult; just call the box office at 604-205-3000 to arrange complimentary tickets for the young people in your party.
On the festival grounds, there’s a family activity area in operation from 2 to 8 p.m. Young festivalgoers can try their hand at arts and crafts activities and enjoy playtime while listening to the show. (The family area is alcohol-free.)
And, of course, the food lineup offers plenty to appeal to the kids, from pizza and corndogs to ice cream and kettle corn.
So pack the kids’ sunhats and sunscreen (or rain jackets, should Mother Nature play tricks on us that day), bring along some earplugs if necessary, and get yourself over to the festival.
