Looking to take your artistic skills to a new level?

The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts has some upcoming workshops for adults that local artists may be interested in.

On Sunday, April 28, Frank Townsley leads a day-long course called Landscape in Watercolour – Mountains.

“Photos of coastal Mount Shuksan provide inspiration as students explore different techniques to capture the mood and texture of a mountain scene: rock outcroppings, evergreen trees, cloudy skies and a foreground of snow fields,” says a class description.

The class, suitable for intermediate painters, will include demonstration and step-by-step instruction in colour mixing, washes, dry and extreme dry brush techniques. The session runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $95.88 for adults and $76.70 for seniors.

On Sunday, May 5, it’s Perspective, with Tony O’Regan. Participants will learn to draw one-point, two-point, three-point and “fish-eye” perspectives and look at how to apply perspective to drawing buildings, landscapes, still life and figures. No previous knowledge is necessary, and supplies are included.

It runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $73.75 for adults, or $59 for seniors.
