Burnaby artisans in Circle Craft Christmas market

Local artists and artisans are in the spotlight for one of Vancouver's favourite Christmas traditions. The Circle Craft Christmas Market, which has been running since 1973, is on at the Vancouver Convention Centre West from Nov. 9 to 13.

The Circle Craft Christmas Market, which has been running since 1973, is on at the Vancouver Convention Centre West from Nov. 9 to 13.

The market attracts some 40,000 visitors every year, and this year's market features 282 artisans.

Among the children's clothing vendors will be Molly and Me (www.mollyandme.ca) from New Westminster, featuring animal-themed character towels, vests, jackets and hats.

On the fashion accessory front, Davie & Chiyo of Burnaby (www.davieandchiyo.com) will be displaying their luxury personal clutches.

New Westminster's Mala Mala Designs will offer up glass-beaded silk, fleece scarves, shawls and handbags.

RoseHip Hat Studio of Burnaby (www.rosehiphats.com) will be offering their hat creations, incorporating vintage textiles and earthy fibres.

Among glass artists, Braden Hammond Glass of Burnaby (www.bradenhammond.com) will be offering handblown glass art and jewelry.

And, on the pet front, Burnaby's Paw of Approval will be offering dehydrated all-natural pet treats.

The market will also be holding its student art show, featuring the artwork of students in grades 9 to 12. Burnaby North Secondary will be among the participating schools.

Local talent will also be involved on the market's entertainment stage, where students from the Donna Fishwick Piano Ensemble, Douglas Ballet and Royal City Youth Ballet Company are set to be among the performers.

Admission is $12 regular at the door or $10 online. Students and seniors pay $10 at the door, or $8 online.

Adults can attend on Wednesday and Thursday after 5 p.m. for a two-for-one price of $12 for two.
