A Burnaby dancer is taking to the stage with Coastal City Ballet for its spring production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Brooke Carothers joins a roster of emerging and established dancers for the production of the work by German choreographer Irene Schneider, set to the music of Felix Mendelssohn.

Brooke is no stranger to the stage, having been training in ballet since age two. She studied at Divine Dance Academy while growing up in Houston, Texas, and also trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. She performed with Bay Area Houston Ballet and Juxtapose Arts Collective from 2015 to 2017, before relocating to Canada to dance with Coastal City.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is onstage Saturday, May 19 at Vancouver Playhouse and Friday, June 8 at Surrey Arts Centre. Tickets for the Playhouse performance start at $29.95 for adults or $19.95 for students/seniors (vtixonline.com). In Surrey, tickets are $40 for adults and $30 for students/seniors (tickets.surrey.ca).
