Five magicians are joining forces for an evening of illusion in support of a good cause.
M – The Magic Show takes to the stage at the Michael J. Fox Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 21.
The show features Kelvin Ng, Wes Barker, Trevor and Lorena Watters, and Burnaby’s own Vitaly Beckman.
The performers come to the stage with their own unique brands of magic.
Ng, who performs under the name Kel, has earned multiple awards from the Vancouver Magic Circle, including its coveted Magician of the Year honours, and by the International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring No. 92 for excellence in stage, close-up and card magic.
Barker combines stand-up comedy, magic and stunts and has been seen on several TV shows, including America’s Got Talent, Wizard Wars, and Penn & Teller: Fool Us (which he won). His videos have garnered more than 40 million views on YouTube, and he has also performed on stages from Las Vegas to New York to Australia.
Trevor and Lorena Watters combine classical comedy with magic innovation and are described as a “sort of Carol Burnett Show meets Penn & Teller.” They have more than 20 international awards to their credit.
Beckman has been practising the art of magic since the age of 14, and he invents and designs all of his own illusions. His show includes Super Vision – where he demonstrates his ability to read books and newspapers from a 50-foot distance – and he also demonstrates object levitation and escapes from chains. He has also been known to turn drawing of objects into the real thing.
The Kelvin Ng Magic presentation is a fundraiser; partial proceeds will be donated to the YMCA”s annual campaign that focuses on helping kids, youth, seniors and adults get access to community programs.
