Burnaby performer earns Ovation Award nomination

A Burnaby performer is up for an Ovation Award. Nominations for the 2014 Ovation Awards, which recognize the best in Vancouver-area musical theatre, were announced this morning (Jan. 14).

Nominations for the 2014 Ovation Awards, which recognize the best in Vancouver-area musical theatre, were announced this morning (Jan. 14).

Among the nominees is Lucas Testini, up for Outstanding Gypsy (Male) for his work in Seussical The Musical.

Former Burnaby resident Peter Jorgensen is up for Outstanding Direction for the Arts Club Theatre Company’s Avenue Q – which is up for Outstanding Professional Production.

The Royal City Musical Theatre Company, based in New Westminster, is a leader in the awards, with multiple nominations for its production of Oklahoma.

It’s up for Outstanding Community Production (Large Theatre), as well as receiving nominations for music direction, choreography, set design and lighting design, along with four performance nominations – lead performance male and female, for Sayer Roberts and Quinn Cartwright, and supporting performance male and female, for Dustin Freeland and Sandra Head.
