A Burnaby teen will be front and centre at the Vancouver Fringe Festival again this year.
Julia di Spirito returns to the stage with Awkward Stage Productions in their new comedy musical, Changing Minds.
Di Spirito has been in three of the company's four hit fringe shows.
This year, she appears as a "ditzy space cadet" in the high school comedy, which puts a gender-bending switch on Freaky Friday: a laid-back surfer boy and a nerdy bookworm girl wake up in each other's bodies and, of course, hilarity and confusion ensue.
Once again, Awkward Stage Productions is featuring an all-youth cast, crew and band, with young talents aged 14 to 22.
The new musical promises to be a hot Fringe ticket, having already sold out its preview night at the Firehall Arts Centre.
It opens Saturday, Sept. 7 with a 7:45 p.m. show.
It then runs throughout the festival, with shows on Sept. 8 at 2 p.m., Sept. 9 at 9 p.m., Sept. 10 at 6:45 p.m., Sept. 11 at 7:15 p.m., Sept. 12 at 5 p.m., Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. and Sept. 15 at 3:45 p.m.

Awkward Stage Productions is a not-for-profit society operated by a group of theatre education professionals, theatre enthusiasts and youth to help fill voids in the local theatre community for youth performers, musicians and stage and technical crew members.
