Popular children’s entertainer Charlotte Diamond is coming home to Burnaby to celebrate Canada Day.
Diamond will be offering up a family concert at noon at Edmonds Park as part of the city’s July 1 festivities.
Diamond, who was born in Burnaby and lived in the Capitol Hill area until age 12, is celebrating 30 years of entertaining children and their families since the release of her Juno Award-winning debut album, 10 Carrot Diamond, in 1985.
A former French and music teacher in New Westminster, Diamond is pleased to be coming back to her roots for the occasion.
She’ll be joined by her musician son, Matt, as they sing in English, French and Spanish and bring some of their newer compositions to the stage.
Diamond has recently released 24 Carrot Diamond – the Best of Charlotte Diamond, which features such perennial favourites as Four Hugs a Day, the Hug Bug, I Am a Pizza, and Octopus (Slippery Fish).
She’ll be onstage at Edmonds Park (outside Edmonds Community Centre at 7433 Edmonds St.) from noon to 1 p.m.
It’s part of a day of festivities that run from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with crafts, bingo, cake, family activities and more.
The city is also hosting a Canada Day celebration at Burnaby Village Museum, and a free concert at Swangard Stadium with performances by Mostly Marley, John and Roy and 54-40.
