Two local choirs are joining forces to offer up a concert in honour of Remembrance Day.

New Westminster's Amabilis Singers are teaming up with the Vancouver Orpheus Male Choir for Remembering ..., set for Saturday, Nov. 12.

The 8 p.m. concert will be at New West Christian Reformed Church, 8255 13th Ave. in Burnaby.

Music includes Roger Emerson's setting of In Flanders Field, along with Nigel Short's The Dying Soldier, Brian Schmidt's Lux aeterna, and We are One, by popular Vancouver composer Brian tate.

"Let us take the time to honour those who have, in the past as well as in the present, committed their lives fully to peace and democracy," says a press release. "And let us, through the power of shared music, become ourselves a tangible force in fostering compassion and understanding in today's world."

The Amabilis Singers is a 55-voice SATB choir, based in New Westminster and directed by Burnaby's Ramona Luengen, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last season. Find out more about the group at www.amabilissingers.org.

The Orpheus Male Choir was formed in 1992 for men of all ages who enjoy singing. Find out more about the choir at www.vancouverorpheus.org.

Tickets for the concert are $20 for adults, or free for children under 12. Buy from choir members or call 604-433-6538.
