Concert season heating up at Deer Lake Park

First it was a sellout concert at the Orpheum in 2011 - not to mention six Grammy nominations and two wins, including Best New Artist.

First it was a sellout concert at the Orpheum in 2011 - not to mention six Grammy nominations and two wins, including Best New Artist.

Now Bon Iver is coming back to get the crowds going at Deer Lake Park this spring, with a concert on Friday, May 25.

Bon Iver - which, for the uninitiated, is pronounced bohn eevair; the French for "good winter" and spelled incorrectly on purpose - is an American indie folk band founded and led by Justin Vernon.

They're following up on the debut album For Emma, Forever Ago with a new offering, Bon Iver, Bon Iver.

"Bon Iver is often equated with just me," Vernon said in a press release. "But you are who surrounds you, and for Bon Iver, Bon Iver I wanted to invite those voices as musical catalysts."

The many musicians on the labum include Greg Leisz, Colin Stetson, Mike Lewis, C.J. Camerieri and Bon Iver regulars Sean Carey, Mike Noyce and Matt McCaughan.

Gates for their May 25 show open at 5:30 p.m., and the show is at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $42.50 - all seats are general admission, lawn seating, and it's an all-ages event. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 2 at 10 a.m. See www.livenation.com or call 1-855-985-5000.

Bon Iver is the first of three concerts announced so far for the spring and summer season at Deer Lake Park.

On June 25, it's Foster the People, with special guests Mayer Hawthorne & The County and Kimbra.

Tickets are $42.50 for general admission seating, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. show.

Then, on July 20, it's Florence + the Machine, with special guests the Walkmen.

Tickets are $49.50, and gates open at 5:30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. show.

Tickets for both those concerts are already on sale. See www.livenation.com or call 1-855-985-5000.
