Live dance is back at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.

The Shadbolt Centre is presenting the latest instalment of the WorkSpace performance series later this month. WorkSpace III is onstage Oct. 26 to 28 at 8 p.m. nightly.

WorkSpace is a performance series developed by the response contemporary dance company, allowing the company to perform excerpts of new dance work that it’s investigating.

“Inspired by memories, past relationships and the relativity of time, WorkSpace III will endeavour to embody these ideas to a curated playlist of pop music,” a press release explains.

This edition will feature the emerging dancers of the company’s apprentice program. It will also feature Sonic Self, a new solo work for Amber Funk Barton - founder and artistic director of the response - created by guest choreographer Heather Laura Gray.

“It’s the perfect show if you’re new to or have never been to a live dance production,” Barton says in a  press release. “WorkSpace III has allowed me to reconnect with why I love dance so much; the marriage of movement and music as well as what it means to take one really good idea choreographically and turn it inside out to come up with endless scenarios and encounters for the dancers.”

Barton adds that the night will be a showcase of young, talented dancers that are emerging on the Vancouver dance scene.

“I’m really excited about this show because I think everyone that comes is going to have a great time,” she says. “And I’m hoping that by the time the show ends, the audience will want to dance themselves.”

WorkSpace III is onstage at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, 6450 Deer Lake Ave., running Thursday, Oct. 26 to Saturday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $36, or $15 for youth. Buy through tickets.shadboltcentre.com or call 604-205-3000.
