Things To Do This Weekend. For this issue, we have Burnaby's first Bosnia Fest, a kids' swapmeet and some ideas for Father's Day.
1Mark your calendars for Burnaby's first-ever Bosnian Festival, on this Sunday, June 17 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be cultural displays, a marketplace, kids' activities, folk dancing, music and refreshments.
The festival takes place at 7770 Wedgewood St. in the Edmonds area of Burnaby. For more information, go to www.bhccvc.com.
2 Spend this Father's Day raising money at the Safeway Father's Day walk/run, Burnaby Lake on Sunday, June 17. There will be 1,400 participants expected, running and raising funds for Prostate Cancer Foundation B.C. This Father's Day event provides a free barbecue lunch, entertainment, a gift to make for dad, and fun things for the whole family. Register at www. fathersdayrun.ca or call 604-574-4012.
3 Head down to the Kids Stuff swapmeet on Saturday, June 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Willingdon Community Centre. There will be tables full of pre-loved kids' items.
The centre is at 1491 Carleton Ave.
4 Head to Brentwood Town Centre with dad to check out the Burnaby Association of Marine Modellers exhibit on Saturday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The association is showcasing a wide selection of miniature working boats, tugs and ships in the London Drugs Court at the mall.
5 Swing by the farmer's market on Saturday, June 16, to shop for fresh, organic produce. The market also has jam, jelly, vinegar, salsa, sauces, baking, honey, maple syrup, tea, eggs, beef and more. You can plan a picnic or breakfast in bed for dad on Father's Day. The market is in the city hall parking lot, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
