It's a beloved Vancouver tradition, and now it's coming to Burnaby.
The In the House Festival - which offers up living room and backyard concerts - is partnering with the Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI) for a series of monthly performances starting Oct. 5.
It starts with World at Your Door on Oct. 5, which offers up Chinese, Persian and South Asian Music. It features the Vancouver ensemble Silk Road Music, along with Lapis and the duo of Amir Haghighi and Amy Stephen.
On Nov. 5, it's Synesthesia, billed as "a sensory experience to feed the body and soul." It features dancer Paula Skimin, along with others to be announced.
On Dec. 5, take in Notes of Justice, exploring how different genres of music - including reggae, hip hop and folk - address various issues of social justice. Performers include Kate Reid, Fredlocks Asher & the Ultra Flex Crew and Chief Rock.
Jan. 5 will see a Golden Oldies cabaret, celebrating the music of the 1950s and '60s.
Each performance is $18, or $15 for children.
The concerts take place at various homes around Burnaby.
A press release notes that many of the host houses are supported by BACI, which offers services for people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
"The series fits with BACI's mission to build stronger, more inclusive neighbourhoods and friendships," the release notes.
