Does anything say “summer” more than the sound of outdoor music?
The City of Burnaby is working to bring summer to all corners of the city with a new outdoor performance program in July and August. Sounds Like Summer will bring more than 50 musicians to a variety of city venues for eight shows a week, running until Aug. 25.
Performers will run the gamut of genres and styles from pop, country and folk to classical, blues and more.
“We have a lively, talented city, and this is a great way to share and celebrate the wealth of culture we have,” said Mayor Mike Hurley in a press release. “Not only does it support local artists, but it offers people a chance to experience live music in everyday spaces without necessarily having to go to a show.”
Performance spaces include Bonsor Recreation Complex, Edmonds Community Centre, Eileen Dailly Pool, C.G. Brown Pool, Confederation Park and more.
