Nevertheless, they persisted.

The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is celebrating women with its final Live at the ’Bolt performance of the season. Live at the ’Bolt: Persistence is onstage Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22 at 8 p.m.

The evening, which is being curated by Cory Philley of the Shadbolt Centre and Maiko Yamamoto of Theatre Replacement, will feature an evening of multi-disciplinary women artists.

All of the work in the show will stem from the infamous – and now inspiring – words of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, describing the determination of his colleague, Senator Elizabeth Warren, who continued to speak on the floor of the Senate despite his directive to sit down and be quiet.

“The artists will all ‘voice’ their own response to his directive and create and evening that is sure to be anything but quiet,” said a write-up about the show. “We’re not quite sure what’s going to happen, but you can be sure that it will be fun, informative, cheeky and defiant. We will persist!”

Tickets are $18, available through tickets.shadboltcentre.com or 604-205-3000.
