Dance fans, here’s one for your datebooks.
The Body Narrative Collective is bringing Ties That Bind, a mixed program of new dance work, to the stage at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts April 20 to 23.
The evening will feature a duet choreographed by Sarah Chase and a trio co-choreographed by Meghan Goodman and Julia Carr.
“Life inevitably includes love, loss and change. Ties That Bind feeds our hunger to hear each other’s experiences and to be comforted by knowing that we are not alone,” a press release says.
Tickets are $35 regular or $30 students and seniors (plus a $3 discount if bought at least seven days in advance). Wednesday night tickets are $15, and Thursday offers two-for-one.

INFINITY ROOM CONTINUES ON
Have you had a chance to check out the popular infinity room installation at Deer Lake Gallery yet?
Even if you missed the Luminescence exhibition, you still have a chance to check out Ron Simmer’s infinity room.
The room – titled A Night Walk in Falling Snow – has been extended until June 4 due to public demand.

OPERA CONCERT COMING
Opera lovers, don’t miss your chance to hear some of the top emerging talents in the province.
Burnaby Lyric Opera is holding an Opera for a Sunday Afternoon concert this weekend.
The concert, set for 3 p.m. April 17 at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, features Jason Cook and Robin Eder-Warren in a concert of opera favourites. The program will include excerpts from The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute, The Merry Widow, Don Pasquale and more.

CHORAL CONCERT COMING
Organ, panflute and voices are joining forces for an upcoming concert at New Westminster Christian Reformed Church.
The Gloria Dei Chorale, under the direction of Betty Ann Vroom, is presenting a concert along with organist André Knevel and Liselotte Rokyta on panflute.
It’s on Wednesday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m., and admission is by donation.
The church is at 8255 13th Ave. in Burnaby.
ARTIST TALK SET
Here’s a heads-up for art lovers out there: You may want to make time on Sunday, April 24 for an artist talk by Avis Rasmussen.
Rasmussen will be on hand at the Burnaby Art Gallery from 2 to 4 p.m. to talk about artists working in Victoria during the late 1950s. The talk is in conjunction with the upcoming Eight Prints exhibition that’s slated to run at the McGill branch of Burnaby Public Library from May 3 to July 11.

JAZZ JAM AT THE 'BOLT
Musicians, check it out. The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is hosting another session in its Jazz Jam series, coming up Tuesday, April 26.
The two-hour session (6 to 8 p.m.) is hosted by Cory Weeds of the Cellar Jazz Society. He’ll be accompanied by a variety of local jazz musicians, and musicians of all ages and abilities are welcome to stop in and take part.

A LITTLE LUNCH MUSIC
And another one for the jazz lovers …
The Shadbolt Centre’s Encores Café is hosting the next concert in the A Little Lunch Music series, featuring the 5 for U jazz quintet, on April 28.
The concert is free, and you can buy a special buffet lunch for the occasion for $12.
The whole thing runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the concert starting at noon.

YOUNG ARTISTS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!
If you have an arty small person in your house, don’t forget about Kidz Club Art Nights at Burnaby Art Gallery.
The Thursday night sessions give seven- to 12-year-old kids a chance to get into hands-on art projects, experiment with art materials and socialize with other like-minded kids. There are even “light bites” and music.
Each month is on a different theme. On April 28, it’s Imagined Portraits, and on May 26, it’s Constructing Space.
Each session costs $16 and runs from 6:30 tp 8:30 p.m.

FAMILY FILM NIGHT
Here’s a fascinating movie night for the family.
Gilmore Community School is hosting a screening night for Spectrum of Hope, a documentary film that tells the story of 10 students with autism who travel to the largest junior musical theatre festival in the world.
The screening is set for Friday, April 29. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the film starts at 6:30 p.m. Popcorn and refreshments will be on sale, and there will be supervised activities for younger kids while the film is showing.
Money raised will go to the Canucks Autism Network, with partial proceeds to Moving Mirror Productions, a musical theatre company for youth in North Burnaby.
