Bookworms of the world, unite. The librarians at the McGill branch of Burnaby Public Library are offering up a Fall Into Books session on Thursday, Sept. 22.

They'll be presenting fast-paced reviews of fiction and non-fiction books for fall reading for adults.

It runs from 7 to 8: 30 p.m., and it's free.

Space is limited, though, so register online at www.bpl.bc.ca/events/ mcgill/, call 604-299-8955 or drop in to the library at 4595 Albert St. to sign up.

Everyone is welcome, and refreshments will be served.

CELEBRATE JAPAN

Japanese arts and culture will be in the spotlight at an upcoming event at the National Nikkei Museum and Heritage Centre. The centre is hosting a kimono show on Friday, Sept. 30 as part of its Nikkei Fall Harvest Festival.

From 5 p.m. on, a number of vendors selling Japanese arts and crafts, tea, cakes and, of course, kimonos and kimono accessories, will be in the Nikkei Centre lobby.

At 7 p.m., it's the grand kimono show, including Japanese tea and sweets - tickets for that portion of the show are $12 at the door or $10 in advance (or for centre members).

Then, on Saturday, Oct. 1, it's the fall harvest fair - with festive food, a market, entertainment and family fun running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Entertainment includes Chibi Taiko, the shishi-mai (lion dance) from Japan, Japanese folk dance and contemporary street dance, and more.

The Nikkei Centre is at 6688 Southoaks Cres. Call 604-777-7000 or check out www.nikkeiplace.org.
