You may want to turn up at the next Spoken Ink night.

The Burnaby Writers' Society's next reading session and open mike night, Tuesday, March 20 at La Fontana Caffe, features mystery author Debra Purdy Kong.

She'll be reading from her soon-to-be-released novel Deadly Accusations.

Kong has a diploma in criminology and has worked in security and a patrol and communications officer.

She's the author of the Alex Bellamy mysteries Taxed to Death and Fatal Encryption, as well as a new series featuring transit security officer Casey Holland.

The first Casey Holland Novel was The Opposite of Dark; the second, Deadly Accusations, is to be launched this month.

Kong has also published more than 100 short stories, essays and articles in a variety of anthologies and publications, including Dandelion, NeWest Review and Chicken Soup for the Bride's Soul.

Everyone is also invited to take part in an open mike session.

Open mike sign-up is at 7:30 p.m., and the reading starts at 8 p.m.

La Fontana Caffe is at 101-3701 Hastings St., North Burnaby.

The Spoken Ink reading series is presented by the Burnaby Writers' Society on the third Tuesday of each month, except July and August.
