Novelist featured at Spoken Ink night

A poet-turned-novelist is the next featured author at the Spoken Ink series.

The Burnaby Writers' Society is holding its next reading night at La Fontana Caffe on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m.

Andrea McKenzie Raine is the featured guest, reading from her recently released novel Turnstiles.

Raine earned her bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Victoria and has attended the successful Planet Earth Poetry reading series in Victoria since 1997.

She published her first book of poetry, A Mother's String, through Ekstasis Editions in 2005. Turnstiles is her debut novel.

Her reading begins at 8 p.m. and will be followed by an open mike session.

Anyone interested in taking part in the open mike  is asked to sign up starting at 7:30 p.m.

La Fontana Caffe is at 101-3701 Hastings St., in Burnaby Heights.
