Oh, boy! Buddy on stage in Burnaby

Burnaby audiences will soon have a chance to enjoy the Arts Club Theatre's popular production of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story.

Burnaby audiences will soon have a chance to enjoy the Arts Club Theatre's popular production of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story.

The musical, which ran to sold-out houses and critical acclaim at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage in Vancouver last year, is hitting the road this season for the Arts Club On Tour series.

It will arrive in Burnaby for two nights at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 29 and 30.

Zachary Stevenson reprises his turn in the title role, joining a cast of 12, two stage managers and three crew members for the tour - which includes 44 shows at 16 venues across the province.

"It is truly a privilege to perform with such a talented cast," Stevenson said in a press release, "and I'm looking forward to kicking it up a notch on the road!"

Bill Millerd, director of the show and artistic managing director for the Arts Club, is looking forward to the tour.

"I'm thrilled that we're able to bring our largest touring production yet to so many communities across the province, before it returns to the Stanley for a 2012 summer run."

The cast also includes Mat Baker, Mark Burgess, Jeff Bryant, Scott Carmichael, Jeremy Holmes, Elena Juatco, Tom Pickett, Gordon Roberts, Michael Scholar Jr., Alec Willows and Seana Lee Wood.

Sasha Niechoda is the musical director, and Valerie Easton is the choreographer.
