The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is offering a special treat for film buffs.

The centre is hosting a special screening of the 1926 film Faust, complete with live piano accompaniment, on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Pianist Robert Bruce (www.robertbrucemusic.com) will be on hand to play for the silent film - which tells the classic tale of Faust, the alchemist, who trades his soul for his youth and falls in love with the beautiful Gretchen.

"After more murder and mayhem, love reigns and the Archangel triumphs," a film synopsis proclaims.

The film screening is at 7 p.m. in the Studio Theatre at Shadbolt, 6450 Deer Lake Ave.
