The big day may have passed, but there's still a chance to learn about the sinking of the Titanic.
The 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic on its maiden voyage was marked in mid-April, but the Burnaby Public Library has an upcoming event for those interested in learning more.
Freelance writer Scott Larsen, a New Westminster resident who was recently profiled by the NOW prior to a lecture at the Burnaby Scandinavian Centre, will be at McGill library on Thursday, May 10, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Larsen extensively researched the sinking of the Titanic as part of a multi-part series he wrote for an English-language Danish newspaper about the fate of Scandinavians on board the ship.
He also created a series of limited edition posters highlighting the passengers from Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
The library contacted Larsen about sharing some of his research after seeing his profile in the NOW.
His talk at the library will also include information about the passengers on the Titanic who were on their way to B.C. - he's also created a commemorative poster including images of some of those passengers.
