What will the weather bring this fine April weekend? Rain or shine, there's plenty to do in Burnaby. We're continuing with our popular feature, Top 5 Things To Do This Weekend.

Here are our staff picks for this weekend, April 11 to 13:

1. Drop by the Gamma Garage in North Burnaby to check out an art show featuring the work of Dianne Yard, Wilma Cook, Pat Sexsmith and Sheila Chowdhury, plus guest artist Robin Timms. It's on from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13, at 232 North Gamma Ave. - in the garage-turned-studio at the back. Everyone's welcome, so stop on by.

2. Go on a hunt for bargains at the Kidstuff Swapmeet at Bonsor Recreation complex on Sunday, April 13. It's running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it features more than 70 tables of the best deals in town. Admission is free for buyers, so stop by the complex at 6550 Bonsor Ave. to check out what's available for the young folks in your house.

3. Drop in to the National Nikkei Museum and Cultural Centre for a curator's talk in connection with the Jesse Nishihata - Visual Storyteller exhibition - a retrospective of the work of the pioneering Japanese Canadian filmmaker. 4. Get in some quality dad-and-tot bonding time at Man in the Moon storytime, Saturday morning at the Bob Prittie (Metrotown) branch of Burnaby Public Library at 6100 Willingdon Ave. The session runs from 10:15 to 11 a.m. for kids aged newborn up to 24 months with their dads, uncles, stepdads, foster dads, grandfathers or other male caregivers. It also runs Saturday at the McGill branch, 4595 Albert St., from noon to 12:45 p.m. Check out www.bpl.bc.ca/events for all the details, or just drop in and have fun!

5. Relax with busy hands at the Tommy Douglas Library's Friday Night Knitting session, April 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The regular Friday night drop-ins are for all ages and skill levels, and you're invited to spend a couple of hours knitting, crocheting or stitching and chatting with other folks. Bring your yarn and needles, scissors and supplies. Tea is provided, but you can bring something to share if you'd like. It's free, and no registration is needed. Just drop in to the Tommy Douglas library branch at 7311 Kingsway.
