The fall rains have come, and we're all hunkering indoors these days. But even though it is wet outside, there's still plenty of inside fun to be had in Burnaby. We're continuing with our popular feature - our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend. Here's our Top 5 list for Oct. 4 to 6.

1. Get considering the power of government apologies, or lack thereof, at the Friday night screening of two films about Japanese Canadian redress: Saiki: Regeneration and A Sorry State. The screening takes place at 7 p.m. at the National Nikkei Museum and Cultural Centre, 6688 Southoaks Cres. Admission is $3 members and seniors, and $5 for everyone else. 2. Get cultured on Friday and Saturday at Workspace II, Amber Funk Barton's latest dance creation, at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $32 or $27 in advance, or $35 or $30 at the door. For more information, go to www.shadboltcentre.com, or call the box office 604-205-3000.

3. Get celebrating Leif Erikson at the first annual Leif Erikson Day in the Vancouver area, on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Scandinavian Community Centre at 6540 Thomas St. The event will begin with Leif Erikson's saga. At 1:30 p.m., the Iceland - Land of Fire and Ice presentation by the honourable consul general Heather Alda Ireland is scheduled. Then at 2 p.m., the Iceland Today, Current Issues and Challenges presentation by ambassador Hjalmar Hannesson will cover Iceland's financial issues and how they're being addressed. The event is free, and coffee is provided. The event is presented by the Scandinavian Cultural Society and the Icelandic Canadian Club of B.C.

4. Get informed about the Dutch masters at the Burnaby Art Gallery speaker series on Saturday at 3 p.m., with Krystel Chehab looking at Splendid Sights, Familiar Sites: Rembrandt van Rijn and Dutch Landscape Prints. For more information, go to www.burnabyartgallery.ca.

5. Get supporting artists living with mental illness at Express Yourself, the fourth annual show by My Artists' Corner. The show takes place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, 6450 Deer Lake Ave., Burnaby. Admission is free. For more information, go to www.myartistscorner.ca.

6. Get visiting other musical arts supporters throughout Burnaby for the In the House Festival. The first concert in Burnaby series includes Chinese, Persian and South Asian music, featuring Silk Road Music, Lapis, and Amir Haghighi and Amy Stephen. It's on Saturday.
