A Burnaby store that calls itself the “best lingerie store” in the city is giving back this month.

Forever Yours Lingerie, a locally-owned small business operating at

3961 Hastings St., received the “best” tag recently. Owner Sonya Perkins said she was “humbled” by the nomination and win over the summer that was presented by the Best of Intima Awards based in New York City.

Now Perkins is giving back again to a cause that is important to her and her business to honour the accomplishment.

Ovarian cancer has a history with Forever Yours Lingerie that goes back to 2013 when Perkins first invited a local model Elly Mayday to a Valentine’s themed photoshoot for their store. Mayday, only 25 at the time, soon learned she had developed ovarian cancer. Throughout her treatments, she continued to model for Forever Yours Lingerie and high-profile companies around the world (Addition Elle, Panache Lingerie). She connected with hundreds of thousands of people all over the globe and helped raise awareness for the signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer during her battle. Sadly, after five years, Mayday passed away in March 2019. 2019.

The company raised $21,850.36 in 2019 to donate to Ovarian Cancer Canada. Perkins hopes that in 2021, between her two retail locations and online store, she can once again raise a respectful donation by donating 2% of overall sales during the month of September, which is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Perkins currently employs 31 women between her two retail locations, warehouse and e-commerce division. She is honoured to once again hold the title of “Best Lingerie Store in Canada”.

It’s a win that “is dedicated to every single member of my team that has worked tirelessly the past two years,” Perkins states.
