Metro Vancouver grocery stores are reporting new employee coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in recent days
Loblaw has posted several recent cases involving staff at their grocery stores and pharmacies.
This includes the Shoppers Drug Marts on 120 Street in Surrey, St. John Street in Port Moody, as well as Real Canadian Superstore locations on No. 3 Road in Richmond, 350 S.E. Marine Drive in Vancouver and 12650 – 104 Avenue in Surrey.
Other Superstore locations with staff cases, according to a post by the company on Saturday, include the location in Mission and Willowbrook Drive in Langley.
While T&T Supermarket is owned by Loblaw, the Canadian Asian grocery chain lists its COVID-19 cases separately on its own site. T&T reports a worker at its Osaka store in Park Royal in West Vancouver tested positive for coronavirus and last worked on April 21.
Sobeys, Inc, the parent company of Safeway, Thrifty Foods, and franchisor of discount grocery chain FreshCo, updated its online employee COVID-19 case tracker April 22 to include the following new B.C. store cases:
- Safeway - 780 2601 Westview Drive, North Vancouver: Store employee last worked April 15
- Safeway - 1611 Davie St, Vancouver: Store employee last worked April 18
The Safeway on Davie in Vancouver previously reported an infected employee on April 13; that store worker last had a shift on April 10.
Neither Safeway location has been shut down by Vancouver Coastal Health or WorkSafeBC due to workplace COVID-19 cases.
On Wednesday, Sobeys also added to its store worker case roster an employee of its Safeway in Fort St. John, B.C.
Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart, and No Frills has not yet posted any new B.C. stores to its COVID-19 employee case listings as of the morning of April 22.
