Laxamana, who works for Verico Xeva Mortgage, was one of 50 women across the country whose personal and professional accomplishments earned them recognition among the best in the mortgage industry, noted a press release.

“I challenge myself to innovate my business and my life on a constant basis,” Laxamana said in the release.

This is the first year Canadian Mortgage Professional magazine has recognized the accomplishments of women in the industry with a dedicated report.

“The 50 women on this list prove that mortgage brokering is no longer just a man’s game,” read the release.

More accolades

Burnaby-based Whistler Glacial Spring Water’s recent three-star Superior Taste Award proves this city is full of winners.

The water supply company received the award earlier this month from the International Taste and Quality Institute, an independent association of Michelin-starred chefs and sommeliers, according to a press release.

The Superior Taste Award is given out following blind tests by a panel of culinary experts. The judges evaluate the products based on appearance, smell, texture, flavour and mouth-feel. Beverages and foods from more than 700 companies around the world are evaluated.
