Above the rest

Abstract Homes and Renovations Inc. has a lot to celebrate this month.

The Burnaby-based contracting firm recently won Renovator Member of the Year at the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association awards gala. The company is led by president and CEO Sandro Stefanucci.

“With over 30 years in the industry, Sandro’s passion for both his clients and projects is reflected in the quality of his work,” notes a press release.

Another Burnaby business was also recognized at the awards.

Nick Petrie, owner and chief business development officer of Draft on Site, was named the home builders’ association’s volunteer of the year.

Welcome to Metropolis

Following this summer’s opening of Muji, another Japanese retailer has opened a location at the Burnaby mall.

UNIQLO Canada opened its first B.C. location at Metropolis earlier this month. The clothing company offers items for men, women and children “based on Japanese values of simplicity, quality and longevity,” notes a press release.

The two-level store features more than 20,000 square feet of retail space and is located across from the grand court on the ground and lower levels.

Coming this November, RYU (Respect Your Universe), a Vancouver-based clothing company, is opening a fifth location and it’ll be at Metropolis at Metrotown.

RYU started a standalone shop on West Fourth in Vancouver but has now expanded across the country with its most recent opening in Toronto. The company prides itself in “providing consumers with more than just urban athletic apparel,” notes a press release.

“They invite their consumers to be part of the RYU community by offering in-store workout classes, activations and unique programs that help their community reach their fitness goals and lead beautiful tough lifestyles,” the release reads.

The Metropolis location is set to open Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. For more info, go to https://ryu.com/metrotown.
