A Burnaby-based credit union is inviting charities and non-profit groups to apply for grants to improve and empower their communities.

Each year, G&F Financial Group doles out thousands of dollars to community organizations through its foundation. The foundation is looking for applications from charities and non-profits that provide services that deal with community health, financial literacy and environmental concerns.

Examples of organizations that have received funding in the past include: the Wildlife Rescue Association of B.C., Burnaby Hospital Foundation, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, the Centre for Child Development of the Lower Mainland, the B.C. Senior Games Society and Fraser River Keeper Society.

Groups who’ve received funding within the past 12 months are not eligible for funding, along with sports teams, professional athletes, political, religious, racial and gender groups, exclusive organizations or anyone hosting a single-day event.
