Just breathe.

That’s what Brentwood Town Centre wants you to do at its weekly yoga sessions, which resumed last Sunday.

Hosted by Brentwood Town Centre, stop by for a relaxing yoga session led by the folks at Yoga Spirit and Wellness, a Burnaby-based yoga studio. The community event is by donation and runs every Sunday from 10 to 11 a.m. on the mall’s upper level across from SoftMoc.

“Stretch, strengthen and revitalize your body to feel good heading into your week,” read an event notice.

No experience is necessary; all you need is a yoga mat and an hour to spare.

Other Brentwood happenings

Speaking of Brentwood Town Centre, the north Burnaby mall runs several weekly events that are completely free.

On Fridays, stop by the shopping centre for Feel Good Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. DJ Juice plays old school beats and Top 40 hits while you enjoy a neck or shoulder massage, located on the second level next to Koodo. Each week, the folks at Brentwood Town Centre also throw in some extra surprises, so be sure to drop by.

On Wednesdays from 11 to 11:30 a.m. head over to Brentwood mall for the Groovin’ Babies dance class. The class is for toddlers and parents, and you can expect to dance and have fun while listening to music.

Registration is required. You can do so at www.runnersandbootiesfitness.com or by calling 604-492-3688. Meet at the children’s play area on the lower level by Sears.

Board of trade fun is back

After some much-needed family time, it’s time to get back into business mode, and to get kick things off this year, the Burnaby Board of Trade is inviting members to join them at the regional board of trade’s New Year’s mixer.

This event is for members only – in fact, because of limited space, organizations can only reserve one seat each. Organizers expect representatives from 13 other boards of trade and chambers to be at the event, so come ready to mingle.

The event takes place Thursday, Jan. 12 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Hard Rock Casino in Vancouver, 2080 United Blvd. in Coquitlam. Tickets are $20. To register, call 604-412-0100 or email [email protected].

Kudos

Burnaby-based Sparrow Fitness and Rehab raised $750 for the food bank over the holidays. The money was raised through Sparrow’s third annual fitness bootcamp and brunch. Folks were invited to attend an hour-long fitness class and then take part in a charity brunch with a minimum donation of $20. Way to go!
