Fall is here and the folks over at Steamworks and Moksha Yoga Burnaby are teaming up for another session of Yoga on Tap on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Like other yoga classes, you’ll be led through a series of positions during the hour-long session, but unlike other yoga classes, you’ll be sipping on a flight of Steamworks’ beer during your movements. Pretty sweet, eh?

And the best part is the proceeds from the class will be donated to RAVEN Trust and Amnesty International through Speak Your Peace, a campaign run by Moksha yoga that gives back to worthwhile causes in the community.

Tickets are $20 each and include a flight featuring Steamworks’ Flagship IPA, which won Best Beer at the 2016 B.C. Craft Beer Awards. The class runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Steamworks’ Burnaby brewery and taproom, 3845 William St.

Buy your tickets soon because they always sell out. You can get them at tinyurl.com/SteamworksYoga.

More yoga

Can’t make it to the October session of Yoga on Tap? Every Friday, Moksha Yoga Burnaby runs a by-donation yoga class from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Funds raised from the class are donated to local charities and non-profits. The class is open to all skill levels. The minimum donation is $5.

Moksha Yoga Burnaby is located at 4701 Hastings St.

Award season

There’s still time to get your tickets for the annual Burnaby Board of Trade Hall of Fame induction luncheon happening next Thursday, Oct. 5 at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown.

This year, Burnaby’s own Milani Plumbing, Drainage and Heating will be inducted into the hall of fame. Milani Plumbing opened in Metrotown 60 years ago and continues to work out of Burnaby – only now they have 100 employees.

Also on the agenda, organizers will announce the finalists for the 18th annual Burnaby Business Excellence Awards. There are nine categories up for grabs this year.

Tickets for the luncheon are $69 each for board of trade members and $680 for a table of 10. For non-members, tickets are $89 each and $870 for a table of 10. Get your tickets by calling 604-412-0100.

The luncheon runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sponsors wanted

Believe it or not but the holiday season is right around the corner, and the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown is already looking for companies to sponsor a tree for its annual Festival of Trees.

The trees are on display at the Burnaby Hilton from Nov. 15 to Jan. 3, 2018. They are seen by thousands of guests and the local community. Proceeds go towards Burnaby Family Life, which delivers services to families and individuals within the community.

To sponsor a tree, contact Adrienne at the Hilton at 604-639-3732.
