The Burnaby bakery scene is getting more and more crowded with incredible choices these days.
That’s due to the opening of Small Victory, a bread and coffee place that also offers Burnaby’s best brunch.
Small Victory had a soft opening on Tuesday at the Amazing Brentwood shopping mall, offering up a fine selection of coffees, pastries, cakes, plus brunch and lunch items.
“Life is made out of moments minute to minute, hour to hour,” says Small Victory. “Our morning ritual can make or break the rest of our day. Savouring fresh-baked bread and fantastic coffee is a definite victory over the rest of your day.”
“Behind the scenes, our team has been hard at work with planning, setup and training. If you've walked by recently, you've probably smelled test baking wafting through the Grand Lobby as we get our equipment up and running,” reads a Small Victory post. “Opening a new location during a global pandemic is no piece of cake, and we are so glad to finally welcome you into our space and meet our new neighbours.”
Burnaby has some fine bakeries, from Chez Christophe to the Valley Bakery.
Small Victory enters this fine collection by also offering up a tremendous array of brunch items, including salmon quiche, avocado toast, almond butter banana morning oats and a delightful breakfast croissant sandwich.
For lunch, Small Victory has a nice variety, including soups and salads, plus sandwiches that range from a light chickpea to a hearty corned beef.
As for cakes, well, there’s tiramisu (my favourite), coconut, plus a salted caramel cheesecake.
Small Victory is next to the Brentwood SkyTrain station and offers some unique items for commuters tired of Starbucks choices.
