A Burnaby developer had a record month in October, shattering condo pre-sale numbers across the region once again.

Beedie Living, part of the Burnaby-based Beedie Development Group, and its partner Anthem Properties sold 700 condos in its Station Square development during the month of October – beating Concord Pacific’s previous record of about 500 condos sold in one month this past summer, according to real estate market analysts Urban Analytics.

The Station Square development, which is expected to be complete by 2021, will include five towers and 500,000 square feet of retail and office space. The project is one of several developments on the go in Metrotown, but unlike other developments, Beedie’s five-tower project is being constructed on mostly vacant and undeveloped land, noted a press release.

Station Square is not the first Burnaby development to break regional pre-sale records. The second- and third-place developments include Concord’s Brentwood tower, which sold about 500 units in one month this past summer, and Rize Alliance’s Gold House, a two-tower project located behind Crystal Mall, which sold 470 homes in one month during the fall of 2015, respectively, according to data provided by Urban Analytics.

“It doesn’t surprise us that Burnaby is breaking sales records,” said Ryan Beedie, president of Beedie Living. “The city is centrally located and dedicated to the kind of development that supports the urban lifestyle so many people seek.”
