A Heights pho hotspot has closed after seven years on Hastings Street.

Taste of Asia, run by the Nguyen family, was known by the restaurant’s neon green frontage at 4532 Hastings St., according to customer Sue From, who said Iris Nguyen was known for her pho.

“I can tell you that her homemade soup broth was definitely the best in Burnaby! It took many, many hours to cook it to perfection,” she wrote in an email to the NOW. “Rare beef and beef ball soup will never be the same anywhere else. After a bowl of that, your spirits couldn’t help but be uplifted! I will miss them.”

The family business was sold and closed at the end of May. The new owners are renovating and plan to open a restaurant, according to From.
