14-year search for missing Burnaby SFU student continues

Asim Chaudhry, 24, went missing on July 21, 2007

Burnaby RCMP are putting out another call for information that could shed light on the disappearance of a 24-year-old SFU student 14 years ago.

The last time his family saw him on July 21, 2007, Asim Chaudhry told them he was headed to the SFU library to study for an upcoming exam, according to a Burnaby RCMP news release Monday.

He regularly took the 135 bus from his home to SFU and was last seen in the area of Production Way and Lougheed Highway on that same evening.

Local police have continued their search for Asim, but there hasn’t been any new information for “quite some time,” according to the release, so investigators are putting out another call for help.

‘There’s always a chance that someone knows something,” media spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj said. “We’re looking to provide some answers to Asim’s family and friends.”
