The Burnaby RCMP's strike force team has recovered a $50,000 violen that was stolen on July 31 from a car parked at Metropolis at Metrotown.

At around 3:30 p.m. on July 31, the owner of a 2002 green Chevrolet Venture bought two new Apple laptop computers. She went to her car, which was parked in an underground lot at the shopping centre, and put her purchases in the car while she went shopping for another 30 minutes.

After leaving the mall, she discovered that her car had been broken into and the two computers were missing, along with her $50,000 violin, a $3,000 bow, a white and tan coloured Louis Vutton bag and an iPhone.

The violin, a 240-year-old Joseph Nadotti Fecit 1772 with a dark finish, was stored in a Bam violin case and a German-made Arcus carbon fibre bow was also in the case.
