If you're about to eat a gluten-free tofu scramble breakfast wrap from Amy's Kitchen, read this first.
The well-known packaged food company has issued a voluntary recall for 73,897 cases of its products, due to possible Listeria contamination.
The three products recalled in Canada are 12-packs of the afore-mentioned breakfast wrap made Feb. 2, 12-packs of the vegetable lasagna made Jan. 21, and 12-packs of the gluten-free dairy-free vegetable lasagna made Feb. 4.
"This recall is based on a recall notice from one of Amy's organic spinach suppliers that Amy's may have received organic spinach with the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems," a press release states. "Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women."
The company has not received any complaints of illnesses, the release stated.
Amy's Kitchen products are sold at a number of grocery stores in Burnaby.
Items can be returned to the stores where they were purchased for an exchange or refund.
