BC Dairy & Abbotsford Canucks presents their final donation number to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

The Milk & Cookies for Canuck Place fundraiser, presented by BC Dairy, is pleased to announce they have surpassed a total donation goal of $30,000 – and will be matched by BC dairy farmers to benefit Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

From Feb. 2 to March 31, donations were collected directly through Canuck Place, at participating shops, schools, and bakeries in the ‘Cookie Club,’ and at Abbotsford Canucks home games, resulting in a total of $43,002 in donations.

Canuck Place is BC and Yukon’s only pediatric palliative care provider, caring for 871 children with life-threatening illnesses and the families who love them.

One prominent figure throughout the fundraiser was Stephanie Hill-Davie and her husband, third and fourth generation dairy farmers from Delta, whose family has had first-hand experience with Canuck Place after their son Owen was diagnosed with a single gene defect affecting multiple organs and passed away on their program in 2022.

Not only has the Hill-Dave family spoken to the importance of the campaign they also funded a pizza party for a classroom in the Lower Mainland who raised the most donations from their bake sales.

“We are so proud of the support from the community in coming together to gather much-needed funds to help Canuck Place,” said Casey Pruim, Board Chair for BC Dairy. “BC Dairy is honoured to have the opportunity to match the donation total and provide support to such an essential service to our youth.”

“Our goal is to bring comfort and warmth to the children and families here at Canuck Place and it’s an incredible feeling knowing that each sale of Milk & Cookies helped do just that,” said Denise Praill, CEO of Canuck Place. “We’re grateful to BC Dairy, the Abbotsford Canucks, and the community who all rallied to make a difference in support of Canuck Place children and families.”

Those who were unable to participate in the fundraisers activations this year are still able to donate to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice directly through their site here.
