The Nanaimo RCMP are investigating an incident of “money falling from the sky” this week on Vancouver Island.
A Nanaimo woman told police that she was on her daily walk on Monday in north Nanaimo when a vehicle went flying past her.
“Seconds later, money was seen floating from the sky and began to fall around her. She could not provide a plate or description of the vehicle that drove past her but did say that it did not stop,” said Const. Gary O'Brien “Being an honest soul, the lady picked up all the money up and promptly called the Nanaimo RCMP to report her find.”
RCMP say there have been no reports of lost money filed in Nanaimo.
“The owner of the money may not even be aware that it had flown out an open window. Another theory is that it may have been gained through illegal means and the owner is reluctant to report it,’ said O'Brien.
The money will be held for 90 days and if the lawful owner is not found, it will be turned over to the finder. If you believe the money belongs to you and can prove it, please call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file # 2021-388.
