A virtual silent auction featuring some local business products will be held from May 8 to 28 to support the Alzheimer Society of B.C.

Following an outpouring of support from the pub night fundraiser at Burnaby’s Admiral Pub in April, the Burnaby and New West IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s committee is coming together to host another fundraiser to support the Alzheimer Society of B.C. — this time a virtual silent auction — in the days leading up to their final Walk for Alzheimer’s Fundraiser on May 28.

For Cathy Lin, the event organizer and Burnaby co-chair of the committee, the fundraisers aim to engage with the community members within Burnaby and New Westminster and raise awareness about people living with dementia.

“Many local businesses support us by donating their products or services for our silent auction,” Lin told the NOW during the initial pub night fundraiser.

The 2023 virtual silent auction will help people donate money for the Alzheimer Society of B.C. from the comfort of their homes, while scoring some great deals themselves.

Auction items include $100 gift cards from Lougheed and Brentwood malls, a $160 massager gun, a $50 hot sauce set from Indigenous-owned Sriracha Revolver and more.

The auction will go on until the day of the walk, Sunday, May 28. All proceeds will be donated to donated to the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
