A woman thwarted an attempted abduction last night by pepper-spraying her assailants, according to Corp. Dave Reid, media spokesperson for the Burnaby RCMP.

The incident occurred as the woman was walking south on Warwick Avenue near Pandora Street at about 9 p.m, he said, when two male suspects tried to get her into a white van.

"These particular individuals were looking for this particular woman. They attempted to accost her and she pepper-sprayed them," Reid said, adding the suspects left, and the woman went into a local business and called the police.

"The person involved - let's just say it was targeted," he said. "There's really no need for the public to be concerned."
