Floral designers will show off their craft
Bloom fest
The Burnaby Blooms festival is on at the Shadbolt Centre May 3 through 5.

The Burnaby Blooms festival will bring eight floral designers to town.

The artists will create “dazzling figures and floral ladies adorned with bright blooms, along with beautiful plants and colourful foliage,” according to a press release.

The event, formerly known as the Rhododendron Festival, is being put on in partnership with Fleur de Ville Jardins at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts (6450 Deer Lake Ave.) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 4 and 5.

“We are thrilled to bring a fresh, local gardening approach to our international flower show family, called Fleurs de Villes Jardin in working with the City’s talented team,” Tina Barkley, co-founder of Fleurs de Villes, said in the release. “Burnaby, with its dozens of eco-sculptures, presents the perfect backdrop for the lovely flower-dressed ladies who are sure to present some show-stopping, Instagram-worthy photos.”

The eco-sculptures will include a butterfly, carousel horses, sheep, insects and more.

Admission is free. For more information, visit burnaby.ca/blooms.
