The Burnaby Board of Trade is on the lookout for the city's greenest companies.

The search is being carried out by Clare Matheson, environmental consultant for the board.

Companies that are interested in participating should contact Matheson this week.

Matheson is looking to write about 10 case studies on Burnaby companies for the board's upcoming environmental pledge, she said in an email to the NOW.

"We are really keen for small to medium businesses to come forward as we'd like to help promote the changes and actions they have undertaken so far as well as their environmental plans for the future," Matheson said in the email. "You don't have to be a Burnaby Board of Trade member to be included, you just need to show the impact you have made, either big or small."

Matheson intends to write case studies on companies that have taken steps to improve their environmental footprint in areas such as energy, waste, water, travel and purchasing, she added, with two case studies for each area.

Her goal is to complete the case studies by the end of September, though the deadline may be extended if necessary.

The best companies will be featured in the board's upcoming environmental pledge and online information resource to be launched later in the year.

The pledge is intended to allow businesses to make decisions on improving their environmental impact during the coming year.

The pledge includes information on changes that don't cost the business anything to implement, and those that require some initial investment.

Links to B.C.-based businesses offering products or services to aid in implementing these changes are also included.
